Amphenol RF- Friday, May 9, 2014

R&J Components has been a leading Amphenol RF distributor for over 20yrs.  Amphenol RF is the premier manufacture of connectors with commercial, industrial and military offerings.

Their connectors are widely used in a large spectrum of applications including

  • Broadband
  • Wireless
  • Automation
  • Military
  • Aerospace

What type of connector you may need mainly depends on the cable, and frequency of your application.

Amphenol RF can offer a wide range of styles and types of RF connectors including

BNC, HN, TNC, SMA as well as other sub miniature coax connectors SMB, SMC, and SMS

Many connectors are offered in commercial grade designated by a suffix RFX as a low cost alternate to industrial grade.

Amphenol RF offers connectors and adapters QPL approved to MIL-PRF-39012 and 55339

Amphenol RF changed their part # designations by adding a 0 prefix to the p# IE: p# 31-236 a BNC bulkhead connector is now p# 031-236 which is the Amphenol p# for the discontinued government # UG625B/U.

Today we will highlight the HN Connector.  IE: 082-805 4-hole flange receptacle. HN connectors are manufactured for high voltage applications, and harsh environments. These are offered in the industrial version with nickel plated brass bodies and silver and gold contacts. All HN connectors are weatherproof

Applications

  • Instrumentation
  • Cable Assemblies
  • Components
  • MIL-Aerospace
  • Airframe
  • Test & Measurement

R& J Components has an extensive inventory of Amphenol RF connectors. We are able to provide samples for evaluation, and can keep in stock all your parts you use on an ongoing basis to avoid lead times. Please contact us with your RF requirements so we can provide you with top quality  connectors from the leader in the RF field.

Amphenol RF, the inventor of the BNC, introduces the High Density BNC family of connectors.- Wednesday, April 23, 2014

HD-BNC delivers TRUE 75 Ohm performance in a footprint 51% smaller than traditional BNC connectors, allowing 4X the density. Engineered to enhance electrical and mechanical performance, the HD-BNC connector features the trusted, push and turn interface of a traditional BNC, providing tactile feedback and a positive lock for quick and guaranteed mating.

Using the same cable prep and termination specifications of legacy broadcast connectors makes adopting HD-BNC seamless.

Applications

Digital A/V cards or Routing Systems

• Increased density hence room for vemtilation

• Stack more cards in less rack space

• PCB solutions to maintain signal integrity for 3 Gbps+ applications

• SFPs with HD-BNCs

Mobile Broadcast

• Mechanically robust and reliable interface

• Trusted positive locking mechanism

• Lowers equipment weight

Studio Integration

• 3 Gbps+ signal for the distance over 190 m

• Same stripping and termination tools

• Patch panel solutions with HD-BNCs

• Availability of Installation and removal tool

• HD-BNC plug for 1694A type cables

Broadcast Cameras

• High Density without compromising signal integrity

• Helps reduces the equipment size and cost

• CCTV Market

Amphenol RF Connectors- Wednesday, May 15, 2013

Amphenol RF, a division of Amphenol Corporation, is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of interconnect products. Aside from Connectors, Amphenol RF also manufactures Cable Assemblies, Attenuators and RF Switches. For over 50 years, Amphenol RF has served the Automotive, Broadband, Wireless LAN/RFID, Wireless Infrastructure, Military Aerospace and Instrumentation markets. For the purposes of this blog, we will explore the considerations that need to be taken into account when choosing a connector.

Connectors come in several different styles and series. In order to find the most appropriate connector for your application, the most important factors to take into consideration are:

  1. The Cable
  2. The Frequency
  3. The Power and Voltage

It is imperative that the size of the diameter of the connector should closely match the diameter of the cable being used. Properly matching the size of the connector and the diameter of the cable has a direct correlation to its performance. When the two are closely matched the application will perform best, whereas the greater the difference in size/diameter, the worse the performance. Secondly, closely matching the diameter of the connector and cable will minimize reflections.

The Frequency also plays an important role in which style of connector you should choose for your application. “Push-on” or “bayonet” style connectors should be used for low frequencies (typically below 6 Ghz) whereas, “threaded” connectors should be used for high performance, low noise applications.

Finally, power and voltage should be considered when choosing a connector. For example: for high power applications, a large diameter connector should be used.
